Project Highlights

Project Description

Contracted by the Texas Department of Transportation, E-Z Bel replaced 4 bridge class culvert structures, 1 bridge and constructed about 1 mile of roadway in Gonzales County. This vital infrastructure project was critical to replace the outdated infrastructure along FM 108 and SH 97 in Gonzales County, while accommodating access for thru traffic. This project had nine separate calendar-day milestones for full-road shutdowns and lane-closures. Through meticulous planning and coordination between suppliers, subcontractors and internal scheduling, each milestone was completed either on-time or ahead of time, restoring thru traffic to the locals and businesses in the area.

Scope of work

The scope of work included demolition and replacement of existing bridge class culverts and a slab beam bridge. Cast- in-place multi-barrel box culvert outfall structures, complete roadway reconstruction including subgrade treatment, flexbase, hot mix and seal coat. E-Z Bel also performed tens of thousands of feet of work zone and permanent striping to facilitate traffic flow.

Project Challenges

  • Milestones: E-Z Bel completed four full-roadway closure milestones ahead of time. This consisted of demolition of existing bridge structures, structural excavation, placement of multi-barrel precast box culverts, roadway reconstruction and restoration of traffic flows all within 5 calendar days. This took numerous internal planning sessions, vital coordination between stakeholders, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Milestones: E-Z Bel completed five lane closure milestones, building halves of roadway while maintaining one-lane two-way traffic. Roadway reconstruction was completed within 3 weeks for each milestone.
