If You Can’t Do It For Yourself…

Do it for t.

Tio Sylvester
Tio Sylvester became a symbol of the kind of work ethic and attitude that built our culture. Well into his 80s, he was still showing up to the jobsite every day — moving, working, helping, pushing projects forward, and bringing energy to the people around him. While others might have slowed down or stepped away, Tio kept showing up with pride, consistency, and heart.

Because everyone has days where they’re tired. Frustrated. Distracted. Unmotivated. Construction is demanding work, and not every day feels easy.

“Do it for, Tio!”

The message behind “Do It For Tio” is simple:

If you can’t do it for yourself that day, do it for the team.
Do it for the people beside you.
Do it for the guy still showing up and giving everything he has.

The phrase works both ways. Mutual respect, motivation, and accountability is part of what makes great crews great.

More than anything, it reflects a belief that the strength of a company is built through people who continue to show up for one another — day after day, year after year.

Tio also refers to a member of our team who we call Tio (featured in the image). He was a driving force of our team until he passed away.

“Do It For Tio” represents the best of construction culture:

  • Showing up
  • Working hard
  • Taking pride in the work
  • Respecting the people around you
  • Bringing energy and effort even on difficult days
  • Never believing you’re above the work
Taylor Rodriguez
At E-Z Bel Construction, some people leave more than a mark on a project — they leave a lasting impact on the people around them. Taylor Rodriguez was one of those people.

Taylor began his journey with E-Z Bel as an intern while attending UTSA. What quickly stood out was not just his intelligence or work ethic, but his energy, humility, and genuine care for others. Through hard work and a willingness to learn, Taylor grew within the company — from estimating, to Signal Operations, and eventually into a leadership role within our Core Division.

Taylor’s legacy
Taylor’s legacy reaches far beyond titles or accomplishments.
He represented the kind of teammate everyone hopes to work beside: dependable, positive, driven, and deeply invested in the success of others. He carried himself with humility, treated people with respect, and showed up every day with the mindset that no task was beneath him and no challenge was too big for the team to overcome together.

Taylor believed in E-Z Bel’s purpose of Building Opportunities Through Constructing Our Communities because he genuinely believed in people. His impact can still be felt in the crews, leaders, and teammates he worked alongside every day.

Keeping Taylor’s Spirit Alive
Today, we continue to honor Taylor’s legacy through ongoing support initiatives, scholarship opportunities, and by carrying forward the values he embodied both on and off the jobsite.

The Taylor Rodriguez Scholarship was established to invest in hardworking individuals who demonstrate the same character, leadership, and commitment to others that Taylor displayed throughout his life. Through this scholarship and continued acts of support, we hope to create opportunities that reflect the kind of person Taylor was — someone who always lifted others up.

We also encourage employees, friends, partners, and members of our community to continue sharing stories, memories, and moments that keep Taylor’s spirit alive within the E-Z Bel family.

“Do it for Tio” became a reminder to work hard for the people around you — to bring energy, effort, and pride to the team even on the days when it’s hard to find it within yourself.
Taylor Rodriguez embodied that mindset every day. So now, when we say “Do it for T,” we’re honoring multiple generations of people who helped shape the culture of E-Z Bel by carrying forward a legacy of hard work, pride, accountability, and looking out for the people beside you.

It’s a reminder that the impact of great people doesn’t end when they’re gone — it continues in the way we work, lead, and show up for each other every day.
